Scandic Neptun Hotel Bergen, Bergen

The hotel's rooms fall short of a 4-star standard, being outdated and badly in need of renovations. Upon arrival, the room was dirty with rubbish still in bins, very dusty, and lacked basic amenities like shampoo. The overall condition was run down, especially the bathroom.

The hotel's rooms were on the small side and had very limited cupboard space, making proper unpacking challenging. However, they were large although a bit aged and outdated. Despite being a little dated, they offered great value for the money spent. The temperature in the room was quite warm at 30 degrees Celsius.

The hotel provided a mix of positives and negatives. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable, although lacking views and somewhat dated. The service was overall courteous and helpful, though the reception staff could be more engaging. The location was a major highlight, being close to both tourist attractions and local gems, but slightly affected by street noise. The dining experience offered a variety of options, but quality fell short of expectations. The facilities were adequate, with some improvements needed.

I must say, the hotel exceeded my expectations in some areas but fell short in others. The location was superb with easy access to shopping and the famous fish markets, making exploring the city a breeze. However, the rooms desperately needed renovation, showing their age with outdated decor and having only a single bed. The service was a bit of a mixed bag, with fantastic breakfast but staff that were not very responsive to requests, especially when it came to heavier luggage.

The hotel provides stunning views of the harbor and Mt Floyen from one of their top suites. However, the actual room details did not match the picture entirely, as the extra bed was a bit basic and had an additional charge for accommodating two people.
